Before SpudzNYC, there was a family table. My family ran a restaurant in Clinton Hill for over 40 years — a neighborhood institution. I grew up watching food do what nothing else could: pull people in, slow them down, bring them together.
I spent 7 years in marketing before I ever touched a restaurant fryer. But I always knew I wanted to build something of my own — something rooted in community the way my family's place was. Not just a business. A gathering point.
When the idea for Spudz came together, I brought it to TJ — my college roommate, my partner, my co-conspirator. Two guys who believed that Brooklyn needed a spot that felt like home. So we built one.
GOT HERE.
We launched SpudzNY in Brooklyn — a restaurant built on bold flavors, community energy, and the belief that food should bring people together. From day one, the sauces were the thing people kept coming back for.
Something interesting started happening. Customers would come in — not for the food — just to buy containers of sauce. They'd stock up. They'd bring friends. The sauce was becoming the story.
SpudzNY closed its doors in 2024. It was a hard moment — but the flavors we'd built were too good to let go. We took the two sauces our customers loved most, bottled them properly, and launched SpudzNYC. Same soul. Bigger reach.
SpudzNYC is on shelves across New York City, stocked in 11+ retail partners, covered by NY1, and featured at the Complex Food Festival. We're just getting started. The goal has always been the same: bring people together over food.
